Push Past Fear

Fear is an action word, just like faith. They don’t operate at the same time, so which one will I allow to get the work?

There are so many people “doing it” these days. From the self-proclaimed experts at branding, strategy, marketing, to the resource rich agencies working with major brands…why would I enter this space? I admit, that’s been my excuse since high school. This same girl who’s high school yearbook memory is “you will see me on TV”, has led a life behind-the-scenes details, in fear of competing with those that are already great. Today, I credit the not-so-subtle reminders from a few close friends and former clients, that I am making my own space. I am here because I have a message to communicate, the experience to validate, and simply because I am good at what I do.

So what am I good at?

  • Being a resource.
  • Helping make sense of details.
  • Massaging a message.
  • Being a connector.
  • Bringing ideas to life, practically and logically.
  • Minding a budget.
  • Speaking to and in front of others
  • Managing a process.

How does this relate to events and marketing? I firmly believe the social aspect of any program, campaign or event is the most critical and often overlooked component. People activate the world, so being in tune with how people interact and participate in social settings provides helpful insight to a planning process. Often an easy step to miss because we generally feel we know what people want. My approach begins and ends with people.

My bio may mention a few of the organizations I’ve worked with, so if you aren’t on the list, let’s get started.
