Tips to Attract an Audience for Your Event
You have an amazing concept for an event. The plan is in place; However, registrations are slow and you are to have attendance anxiety. When you begin to wonder how well your event marketing has performed, you may have missed a step, or didn’t plan a balanced approach. One of the keys to attracting an audience for your event, is ensuring you have invited the right people. Every event is not for everyone. And the people you generally converse with may not be interested in the event you're hosting.
So how do you overcome FLEA (Fear of Low Event Attendance)?
Let’s review three tips to attracting your event audience:
1. Check your guest list. Like really, who did you invite? Do they even like each other? How mixed is the audience? How are they connected with your organization or group?
2. Review your promotion plan. Wait, did you draft one? Once you have crafted your ideal list of potential attendees, it will be beneficial to have an idea of there they “hang out” before you spend effort or dollars to promote. Your promotion plan should include a mix of platforms to reach your intended and desired audience.
3. Enlist an event champion. Like an ambassador, someone should be identified who can speak about your event, to their friends and network. They should share (in their words) why attending your event is so cool. They totally inspire FOMO. Your event champion should be connected and have the tools to chat, tweet, snap and live fun details to inspire interest in your event.
4. Yes, #4, the bonus tip. Next time, begin with a plan. You should establish goals for your event, include your ideal number of attendees, the spend per attendee, why you need that attendee and what you want them to do.
Every event has a meaning and a reason. Your events success is based on how well you quantify it.
